I'm trying to get internet in my apartment but it's taking longer than normal. I've been absuing the Naperville Lib's wireless as well as the radio stations. WONC's comes with a free bag of Cosi chips that someone left on the table.

I'm doing PA for the boys soccer game tonight. I was told to wear a shirt with North Central on it, but the closest thing I own with a bird on it is a sky blue t-shirt with penguins on it. Why own a shirt of a bird I can see everyday around here. Unicorns, giraffes, and penguins need to be promotoed on the front of our shirts.

I'm going to go walk around and take some pictures.

Look out - Helter Skelter.

I like that my summer vacation is a true summer vacation (June-September) but I don't like all of these back-to-school sales and Last Fling city festivals. These people are cramping my summer style. Jean shorts, sunglasses, golf hat, and cruiser bike all the way.

Things I didn't know about Charlie Manson: His infamous murders of yuppie, rich white people was all a plan. He planned the murder to look as if it had been done by a group of black people. This would create some hostility between races and thus create Helter Skelter - a war between the black and white races. Where would Charlie and his crew be during this war? Well, get this. He was going to take the Family to Death Valley where there is a hole/portal in the ground that leads to a heavenly place filled with trees with 12 different fruits, endless sunlight, and rivers of honey. During the war above, they would hang out, mate until they reached a population of 144,000 (something with Revelations), and wait for the war to end. Once everyone had killed one another, he would come out of his hole with his new and improved master race.

I haven't finished the book, but I don't think he got there. The last time I heard from him was on a YouTube video from the '80s and he couldn't even construct sentences.

Way to go, buddy.

I've started reading Helter Skelter about the Manson trials. I normally don't like scary movies, books, or people, so this book has me double-checking that I lock the door at night.

on Porches

Corinne and I headed to Asheville, North Carolina last week with her parents to visit her uncle, aunt, and four golden retrievers. They live in a beautiful house on ten acres which was built by her Uncle Don. We hiked, climbed a waterfall, rode horses, played frisbee with the dogs, sat on a rocking chair on a porch and stared at a the mountainous landscape, read David Sedaris books, played sudoku, consumed drinks, and had a wonderful time with some great people.

I'm already planning my return trip.

Gastroenteritis

This is what the doctor called my stomach ache that woke me up on Monday morning at 4am and kept me biting my lip and bending over in pain for about a day. It's basically just a stomach ache for the intestine, caused by poor eating habits (weird wedding chicken, wine, beer, roast beef, popcorn, pizza). Nonetheless, I decided to head back to Crystal Lake to get it checked out. I was told to eat blandly for a couple of days and I should be fine so throw away your kidney stone and appendicitis theories.

So how have I been passing my time? Well, splendidly, if I do say so myself. I never realized how much working odd hours can negatively affect the body, as I have spent the past day and half completely vegging out. From sipping on ginger ale, to putting a clinic on for my sister in Wii baseball, to creating sweet melodies on the drum set; I haven't wasted a second of this free time that has become so much more sacred since I've entered into the 40 hours a week work force this summer.

I'm heading back to Naperville tomorrow as I head into another week of pouring Coolatas at city festivals and Snoop Dogg concerts. There is a light at the end of the tunnel this month, as a trip to North Carolina (one of the 30 states I have not visited or driven through in 21 years) with Corinne and her parents is scheduled for the Friday after next. I'm set to meet her eccentric uncle who decided to go to U.S. war prison instead of going back to Vietnam - I'm intrigued. I was told he's a jokester.

I wish I could finish with some witty comment that references an earlier sentence and brings a theme to these words, but the 5 hour All-Star game is still going on and I'm intrigued to see how the managers attempt to avoid the problem that plagued them just six years ago.

Random fact about Austin: I've been to an All-Star game.
