A couple of weeks ago Corinne and I panicked because we had the rest of our spring term weekends filled with events, friends, etc. and there wasn't any free time available. But when I go home for the summer I know I'll look back on these weekends and reminisce that these were some of the best times I will ever have at NCC.
Friday night after a few debacles (quizno's closing at 8pm, corinne's roomate pulling the ol' no communication bit, and a blue tv screen starring at me for an hour) we hung out with a bunch of our friends at caitlin's new apartment. The location and apartment were sweet and her friends were really nice even though we almost WWIII'd over coffee companies. For all present, Nick Devlin isn't as shallow and lame as those stories made him sound.
Saturday was NCC's infamous Springfest. This is the big "party weekend" and people take it pretty serious. Nick's roommate was playing bp (beerpong for you non-bros) by 10:00am and everyone was drunk and in the street - still with drinks - by 3pm.
Corinne had to work all day, but Nick and I decided that because everyone parties on this weekend, it would be fun to do the same thing, but poke fun at the same time (It's funny and it makes sense to us, so don't judge). Brett was coming down from CL in the afternoon so Nick and I assembled the ingredients for jungle juice (aka "juice" or "jungies"). We hit up Jewel for ice, liquor, and hawaiian punch; big lots for a ladle; and a liquor store for the everclear. We moseyed back to my room and threw all of the ingredients in my dirty laundry bin - minus the clothes - and created ourselves a pretty decent drink mix. We started drinking, which when the sun is out, is more fun and cooler.
Brett showed up and joined us and then we headed down to the plaza for the springfest activities. After some drunken run-ins with random NCC'ers, we came back to my room for more. We also called Greg and he was now in transit. Greg showed up (hey get this, he was rattled) and we ate, drank, and then went back down to see the presidents of the united states of america. Of course, we showed up late and only saw 5 or so songs, but it was fun nonetheless. We then headed over to the baseball field to watch fireworks. Of course, since the juice was inside of us, we thought it would be fun to yell random words when each individual firework exploded (favorites included: boom bitch!, communism!, global warming!, and Aurora!). I apologize to anyone we angered or offended. We came back up to my room and Corinne joined us and we finished out the juice filled evening.
Today (Sunday) Brett, Corinne, Nick, and I headed up to the good state of Wisconsin to meet up with Katie and her friends and to go to a Brewer's game. We all had a great time watching Nick eat meet for the first time in 35 days, taking pictures of fat babies, and pretending to be the voice and personality of all the Brewer's players. After we headed to Katie's and were greeted with hospitality, brats, and good times.
A memorable weekend with good people.
